Whats there at Old Airport Road???

Been to the hawker centre at Old Airport Road?!
It has an array of food choices - anyone who goes there will be spoilt for choice.

Today we're going to recommend 2 very different food stores in Old Airport Road Market & Food Centre.

The 1st - Sliced Bee Hoon Soup (鱼片米粉汤)
This dish is a bowl of Bee Hoon (rice noodles) cooked together with slice fish slices in a milky broth. Its a healthy and light dish recommended by the Health Promotion Board of Singapore. A locally recognised dish, a must try when in Singapore (for all foreigners visiting Singapore).

It ia a light dish, with tasty broth with fragance of sesame oil and chinese wine (hua diao jiu). Containing a substantial amount of bee hoon and thick slices of fish (fresh); its definately value for money ($4). This dish is also one of their signature dishes sold.

Sliced Fish Bee Hoon
This store also sells fish head bee hoon (鱼头米粉). So what is the name of this store you're asking... Here you go.. The name of this store is Jing Hua Fish Head/Sliced Fish Bee Hoon (金华鱼片/鱼头米粉). This particular store is very popular amongst the locals and one has to queue and wait approximately 15 minutes during peak hour sales.

Jin Hua Sliced Fish/Fish Head Bee Hoon

No 2 - Chicken Porridge
Another healthy and light dish worth trying. The porridge. A dish that consists of cooked rice with too much water.

This extremely light dish has a texture like water; where the porridge is not too over cooked with too much or too little water; Its very flow-y and it does not make you feel bored after a few spoonfuls of it. Its chicken meat is very well marinated with salt, pepper and soy sauce. The chicken meat is not small slices not a whole chunk of chicken meat. It is topped off with spring and fried onions and sesame oil (as shown in the picture) before serving.

Chicken Porridge
So which store is this you may ask. This porridge store however does not concentrate on selling porridge. It sells an array of dishes from chee cheong fun, chicken wings, dumplings, porridge and noodles. Concentrating on freshly made chee cheong fun, the store does not have a store name except its signature dish of the freshly made chee cheong fun. Located diagonally across from Jin Hua Sliced Fish/Fish Head Bee Hoon. This store's porridge is a must try.

Hainanese Curry Rice

Has any of our readers tried a Hainanese non-spicy gooey curry rice?

Today our Foody Galore team has heard many good reviews on this particular Hainanese curry rice which is known as Scissors -Cut Curry Rice which is the chinese translation of 剪刀剪 which is pronounced as Jian Dao Jian.

Several Hainanese dishes are good, like the famous Hainan Chicken rice and the Yong Tau Foo, but this particular curry rice shouldn't be left out as well!

Few famous dishes are their slimy soft cabbage, braised pork and most importantly the curry!

Soft Stewed Cabbage

The beautiful concoction of the chilli sauce and curry

Customers can either choose either to separate their dishes or to place them on their rice itself.
The rice itself is not ordinary. They are topped with the mixture of the braised gravy and curry. The combination of both does not crosses out each other but instead they are further enhanced with the taste of the spiciness of the curry and yet the thickness of the gravy.
Of course, customers can either choose to drench their rice full of gravy or not at all! All to each preference.

Ambience and Layout of store

Conclusion
Overall the experience was sinfully good and the pricing was affordable. The price of each dish for 2 customers ranges from $1- $3. It is not overly priced for such excellent food. There will be a big crowd if you are aiming to eat in during lunch and dinner.

Overall Rating: 4.5/5
